ALL SAINTS PARISH BAYELLE CELEBRATES GOLDEN JUBILE: Sun.21Feb. 2016


Christians and well wishers of All Saints Parish, Bayelle, were in a festive mood on Sunday 21 February 2016 as they reached the climax of the Golden Jubilee of their Parish, opened 50 years ago by the very Reverend Fr Otto de Wolff, Mill Hill Missionary, in February 1966.  At the concelebrated Holy Mass with His Grace Cornelius Fontem Esua as main celebrant, the participation showed that much preparation had gone into the occasion. Members from the Sacred Heart Parish, Dipanda Douala, twinned to Bayelle, were also present. Mr Patrick Visas, the Chairperson of the Parish Pastoral Council was elated. Everyone joined forces to make the day a success, and Fr Cosmas Ndang, the PP was full of thanks. In his homily, the Archbishop exhorted all the Christians to work as a team and to benefit from the graces of the Jubilee Year of Mercy.

Bishop Agapitus Nfon was the main celebrant ; also opened the Holy Door of the Shrine.

WEDNESDAY 6 APRIL 2016  PRIESTLY ORDINATIONS


Ordinations of 11 new  priests in Mankon, all for the Archdiocese of Bamenda. Archbishop Cornelius Fontem Esua was the main celebrant assisted by His Grace Antoine Ntalu of Garoua, Mgr George Nkuo of Kumbo, and Mgr Agapitus Nfon, then Auxiliary of Bamenda. The Mass took place in the Centenary Piazza in front of the Cathedral. This was the largest number of priests ever to be ordained in Bamenda.

SILVER JUBILEE OF PRIESTHOOD OF BISHOP AGAPITUS & CO.

On Sunday 23 April, His Lordship Agapitus Nfon, Fr Joseph Awoh and Fr Celestine Diang celebrated the Silver Jubilee of their ordination in the Cathedral in Mankon.  On the same day Catholic University Students in the Archdiocese of Bamenda celebrated their  Jubilee of Mercy in Bambui.  


CLOSING OF THE YEAR OF THE CONSECRATED LIFE


The Year of the Consecrated Life which began on 30 November 2014, officially
closed in the Vatican on 2 February, Feast of the Presentation 2016. In the Archdiocese of Bamenda it closed on Tuesday 29 December 2015 while the Provincial celebrations for the Bamenda Ecclesiastical Province took place in the Diocese of Mamfe from Wednesday 20-Friday 22 January 2016. At Mamfe, on Wednesday 20 January participants listened to Reports on activities carried out in the course of the year in the 4 dioceses of the Bamenda Ecclesiastical Province.  On Thursday 21 January, the day began with a Eucharistic celebration with Bishop George Nkuo as the main celebrant. Then followed a symposium during which the following inputs were given: 1. How does the laity view religious life, by Mrs Rose Menga, Chairperson of the Laity Council, Diocese of Buea. 2. Who are Religious? by Fr Gerald Obasi, Sch.P 3. Collaboration with Consecrated Persons, by Fr John Bosco Ambe, Provincial Chairperson, ADP. 4. Consecrated Life. A Gift to the Church, by Fr Bartholomew Anyanwu, Rector of the Major Seminary Bachuo Ntai.
At the end of  the Pontifical Mass with His Grace Cornelius Fontem Esua as chief celebrants the following religious who were celebrating jubilees received awards: 8 for Golden Jubilee in Religious Life:  3 for Ruby Jubilee in Religious Life all of them Sisters of St Therese of the Child Jesus of Buea; and 4 for Silver Jubilee.

BISHOPS SEMINAR IN BATOURI:10-16 january 2016


The 39th annual seminar of the Bishops of Cameroon took place in the Diocese of Batouri from 10-16 January 2016 under the theme: Priests and the Pastoral Care of the Family. Mgr Kleda & Joseph Atanga gave a Synopsis of the Synod on the Family; Fr Paul Matakon on The Mission of Priests in the Pastoral Care of the Family;  Mme Irene Kola: Challenges to Family Apostolate Today; Fr Herve Ngambia-Pastoral Care of Families in Special Situations; Mme Kola Aicha-The Need for and the Pastoral Care of Couples after Marriage; The Need for Adepquate Formation of Priests in the Pastoral Care of Families by Fr Bernard Tonye; Testimonies and Witness by Ngamo couple; Establishing Family Apostolates in the Dioceses by Fr Tchoungi; and Presentation of the Apostolic Letter Mitis Iudex Dominus Iesus by Mgr Paul Nyaga.
