300 priests from the Bamenda Ecclesiastical Province held their Provincial biannial meeting at the St Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary Bambui from Monday 20 -Thursday 23 July 2015. Most of the priests arrived on Monday and the official opening began with a Pontifical Holy Mass celebrated by His Grace Cornelius Fontem Esua, Archbishop of Bamenda, who in the name of all the Bishops welcomed the priests to Bambui. Discussions followed each report. On Wednesday there was the presentation of the position paper on the 2015 Homeletic Directory issued by the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. Priests were exhorted to keep strictly to the directory. There was also a very animated discussion on the issue of the Retirement of Diocesan Priests for which there was no clear cut policy laid down. The ADP therefore chose a group led by the Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Bamenda, Mgr George Tomrilla Ngalim- to work out a clear policy. Various ways of raising money for this purpose were also explored and discussed. The biannial meeting came to an end on Thursday morning 23 July with a final communique. The next meeting will take place in Kumbo Diocese in 2017.
